Looking Back on the Holidays with KTcollection. Here is to a Fabulous 2013!

This year was a whirlwind of fun trying to balance both working our busiest season of holiday markets while settling into our first holiday season at our Columbus Avenue store. It was no small feat, and we even managed to get our entire 14-person team on planes, trains, and subways on time to celebrate the holidays with their families. Whew…. what an accomplishment.

What a great season it was! We are used to the festive chaos of the markets, but celebrating the holidays in our boutique was a new experience.  Getting to decorate the whole store display in a blue-colored icy glass really got us into the true winter spirit. With Hanukkah earlier this year, it made the month seem double as festive. We loved reveling with the Upper West Side community and feel much more rooted since we opened in September. We enjoy the slower pace and having the chance to really talk to people and get to know families in the neighborhood. Husbands, boyfriends, and mothers eventually come in with wish-lists, and it is fun to piece together whom they are shopping for.

Now we are settling into a slower pace, and we can focus on thinking up amazing new designs to debut for Valentine’s Day. But the best part of having a store is that we don’t have to wait for street fairs or markets to see all of you again. You can come to our flagship store on Columbus Avenue every day of the year.

We offer you all our most sincere gratitude for making 2012 such a wonderful, productive, and successful year for all of us at KTcollection. We wish you the absolute best for 2013. It is going to be a fabulous year!

Here were the big sellers of the 2012 season. What will it be in 2013?:

Our newest handmade design was a hit because of its chic and simple design. It is definitely here to stay!

These new fingerless organic bamboo cotton gloves flew off the shelves! People love the fact they can keep you fashionably warm, and we love the fact that we can still layer our jewelry over them.

Teardrop Hoop Earrings With Nuggetsmixed nugget hoop

Believe it or not, our standard hoops had to step aside this season for these beauties. People just couldn’t resist the shimmering nuggets. They are now available in smaller sizes due to popular demand.

Adjustable RingsIMG_2857

Very few are able to leave the shop without trying on our adjustable rings–both in solid metal and with colorful stones in endless cuts and colors. Wear them on any finger and they stay comfortable even in extreme weather changes. These make phenomenal gifts.

Circle ChainsLarge 7 way

They are always best sellers. Classic and versatile at the same time.… Did we mention that you can wear them in seven different ways? 😉

The dangling sparkles go with gold, silver and just about anything dressed up or down.

Lace Collar NecklacesChristina

Who can say no to a little lace? These necklaces were perhaps the star of the season. Feminine, glamorous, and cool enough to dress down with a fitted sweater or blazer. These have become staples in quite a few of our wardrobes, and I bet they would look good in yours too.

We owe it all to our amazing customers and here are some fab shots of them this season:

KTcollection Fall Happenings: A High Line Meatpacking Market for Foodies, Street Fairs, Holiday Markets and More…..

We can’t wait to have a permanent Upper West Side base in NYC. For seven years we’ve been setting up and breaking down our booths at fairs in the heat, cold, wind and rain every weekend, sometimes three times a day.  It will be such a nice luxury to be able to welcome our KTcollection community to a beautiful store with comfortable temperatures. (Oh…the simple pleasures of air conditioning and heat.)

But just because we are going to have a flagship store at 315 Columbus Avenue, don’t think you’ll have to miss out on visiting us in the bustle of the holiday markets and street fairs this fall and winter. We love the crowds and the excitement of the markets, and we aren’t ready to give that up just yet. Plus, we know that many of you KTcollection fans still don’t like to travel above 14th Street, so we have secured plenty of other options to come see us downtown and around town September through December.

High Line Meatpacking Market:

Urban Space, the same group that organizes the holiday markets at Union Square and Columbus Circle,  is launching a new market in the heart of the Meatpacking District. We’ll be steps from the stylish Standard Hotel and in the shade of the High Line in September and October.

We have to admit that bringing our jewelry to the Meatpacking District isn’t the only reason we can’t wait to take part in this truly exciting endeavor. This market is ideal for foodies. Our mouths are simply watering at the thought of all of the high-end food trucks that will set up booths there. While you shop, you’ll be able to keep the men in your life busy tasting their way through the stars of NYC’s gourmet street-food scene. Just make sure they bring you the goods to try too! You won’t want to miss Momofuku, Mayhem & Stout, Asia Dog, Steve’s Ice Cream, Red Hook Lobster Pound, Mexicue, a gourmet juice bar, and many more… Then you can stroll to the Standard to have drinks while admiring the High Line. Stay posted with us for Fashion week specials. The market will be open until 11pm during Fashion Week making it an ideal fall night out.

(The High Line Meatpacking Market will be open Monday through Thursday 11am to 9pm, Saturday and Friday 11am to 10pm, and Sunday 11am to 8pm on the corner of Washington and 13th streets. KTcollection will have a booth there September 1st through October 28th.)

Street Fairs:

We’ve hand-picked a few of our favorites that we just can’t bear to miss this fall like the Upper East Side 3rd Avenue fair, Crafts on Columbus, Hoboken Arts & Music Festival, and of course the mother of all street fairs and Katie’s all-time favorite, Atlantic Antic.

(Click here for our complete street fair calendar.)

Holiday Markets:

We’ll bring on the holiday cheer at our usual booths in Bryant Park Holiday Shops (October 26th through January 6th) and at Union Square Holiday Market (November 16th through December 24th).

(Click here for details on how to find us and opening hours for our holiday market booths.)

As you can see, we will have plenty going on here at KTcollection in 2012. We hope you join us for the fun!
