KTcollection Fall Happenings: A High Line Meatpacking Market for Foodies, Street Fairs, Holiday Markets and More…..

We can’t wait to have a permanent Upper West Side base in NYC. For seven years we’ve been setting up and breaking down our booths at fairs in the heat, cold, wind and rain every weekend, sometimes three times a day.  It will be such a nice luxury to be able to welcome our KTcollection community to a beautiful store with comfortable temperatures. (Oh…the simple pleasures of air conditioning and heat.)

But just because we are going to have a flagship store at 315 Columbus Avenue, don’t think you’ll have to miss out on visiting us in the bustle of the holiday markets and street fairs this fall and winter. We love the crowds and the excitement of the markets, and we aren’t ready to give that up just yet. Plus, we know that many of you KTcollection fans still don’t like to travel above 14th Street, so we have secured plenty of other options to come see us downtown and around town September through December.

High Line Meatpacking Market:

Urban Space, the same group that organizes the holiday markets at Union Square and Columbus Circle,  is launching a new market in the heart of the Meatpacking District. We’ll be steps from the stylish Standard Hotel and in the shade of the High Line in September and October.

We have to admit that bringing our jewelry to the Meatpacking District isn’t the only reason we can’t wait to take part in this truly exciting endeavor. This market is ideal for foodies. Our mouths are simply watering at the thought of all of the high-end food trucks that will set up booths there. While you shop, you’ll be able to keep the men in your life busy tasting their way through the stars of NYC’s gourmet street-food scene. Just make sure they bring you the goods to try too! You won’t want to miss Momofuku, Mayhem & Stout, Asia Dog, Steve’s Ice Cream, Red Hook Lobster Pound, Mexicue, a gourmet juice bar, and many more… Then you can stroll to the Standard to have drinks while admiring the High Line. Stay posted with us for Fashion week specials. The market will be open until 11pm during Fashion Week making it an ideal fall night out.

(The High Line Meatpacking Market will be open Monday through Thursday 11am to 9pm, Saturday and Friday 11am to 10pm, and Sunday 11am to 8pm on the corner of Washington and 13th streets. KTcollection will have a booth there September 1st through October 28th.)

Street Fairs:

We’ve hand-picked a few of our favorites that we just can’t bear to miss this fall like the Upper East Side 3rd Avenue fair, Crafts on Columbus, Hoboken Arts & Music Festival, and of course the mother of all street fairs and Katie’s all-time favorite, Atlantic Antic.

(Click here for our complete street fair calendar.)

Holiday Markets:

We’ll bring on the holiday cheer at our usual booths in Bryant Park Holiday Shops (October 26th through January 6th) and at Union Square Holiday Market (November 16th through December 24th).

(Click here for details on how to find us and opening hours for our holiday market booths.)

As you can see, we will have plenty going on here at KTcollection in 2012. We hope you join us for the fun!

Behind the Scenes of a KTC Photoshoot

No stint at the Roger Smith Hotel is complete without coordinating a video shoot with John Knowles of Panman Productions. What a way to wrap up our fantastic stay at the RS Pop Shop in February and March!  As usual, Melissa Gonzales of Lion’esque Media was part of it. Not only is she the style-maven of Lionesque Media, but she also knows how to work it behind the camera. We were also lucky to have talented photographer John Birdsong working the lens.

Here are some of the outtakes featuring the KTC girls. As usual, there were no dull moments and there was a lot of laughter. Choosing the jewelry for each shot was half the fun!  Living up to John’s vision for the shoot is also always an adventure. Luckily his assistant Ingrid David was there to keep things running smoothly and everyone on track.

We look forward to showing you the final result. Videos and more photos to come!

And just in case you missed it, here is the KTC brand video John Knowles did in 2011.

2012 Spring Fever: Bright Colors Are In!

It’s official. Spring has sprung. What does that mean? BRIGHT COLORS!

We are loving the vibrant hues we keep spotting on the NYC streets; it seems there is no better way to celebrate spring. Challenge: What is the best way to accessorize bold color combos? Here are three options: match, create contrast, or complement the color with solid metals.

It’s nice to pick pieces that have tones of the same color in your outfit. The Blue Fabergé Egg Earrings pull the look together with delicate shades of blue without “over-matching.” The Gold Martini Bracelet matches the gold finish in the earrings and brings out the bright yellow of the skirt.

If you are going to go for contrast, choose one piece that is big and bold; a statement-maker. The Turquoise Ipanema Earrings pop against the pink and red in this ensemble. Then tone down any additional accessories to avoid over-doing it. These Bone Bangles add a subtle touch.

If you are wearing several colors or loud prints, stick to solid metals. We decided that the straight lines of the Gold Mirror Earrings, the Long Gold Nuggets Necklace, and the Vintage Gold Points Ring reflect the right amount of shine without distracting from the outfit.

What do you think? Let us know what you would choose!

Party On: KTC RSPOP Shop Opening Party February 8th

The KTC RSPOP Shop Opening Party February 8th was a total success. What a way to start our February and March stay at the Roger Smith Hotel! Thank you to everyone who came.

There was flowing wine, a lot of laughs, and great conversation. Many of our long-standing KTC friends were there, and passer-bys came in from the cold to join the festivities and see what the fuss was about. We loved seeing old and new friends and showed off some of our new designs that are exclusive to  RSPOP.

Lucky Lindsey Utrata won $100 of jewelry in our raffle, and customers walked away with complimentary silk scarves. (Which are now available online in case you missed the party as long as supplies last.)

And the best part is that this party was just the launch of our weekly “After-Work-Wine-and Jewelry-Wednesdays”. They will be happening almost every Wednesday during our 2-month stint at RSPOP. Check the website calendar for the most up-to-date news. Also stay tuned for specials. We will keep you posted via email, Facebook, and Twitter. There is always something happening at KTC RSPOP. Come see for yourself!

Wrapping up the Holiday Season & Gearing Up For The New Year, By Lauren Lynch

As a fresh transplant from Texas, I jumped into the holiday markets at the beginning of December to become the newest member of the KTC team. Getting to know KTCollection’s amazing clientele was a great introduction to New York City, so thank you KTC fans! (It took me exactly three days to drop the southern habit of saying “sir” and “ma’am”, which didn’t go over so well up here).  I also got a new perspective on what New York fashion is all about. Although I have lived all over the globe, there is nothing quite like NYC street fashion. It is truly inspiring.  Watching so many New Yorkers, tourists, and international travelers come together over jewelry has been a blast.  Before we start gearing up for our POP UP shop at the Roger Smith Hotel in February, here are a few images and impressions from our holiday season.

First of all, I love the process of a woman trying on several different pieces of jewelry to find the one that truly suites her. It feels a bit like Goldilocks searching for what is  “just right”. When she finds it, I am also gratified. The only problem is that I immediately want it for myself too. Fortunately (for my finances) and unfortunately (for me), not everything that looks fantastic on someone else always works for me. (If you were wondering what we do when we don’t have customers, trying on various combinations of jewelry never gets old….)

But don’t think I missed out on shopping for the gals in my life. Being new to New York, I wanted something handmade, NYC local, and pretty. You know I had to get myself something too. (Hey, nothing wrong with self-gifting…. shows how much I love their gifts…)  After snapping up the “must-have” adjustable ring, my second KTC purchase was the new costume purple druzy-stone earrings. They are lightweight, organic-looking, and just a little bit rocker all-in-one. Perfect for my new staple “NY-all-black” look.

The holiday markets may be officially closed. *Pause for sigh*, but gift giving is always appropriate. And guess what? February is right around the corner… And we will be back at RS POP at the Roger Smith Hotel, located at 501 and a half Lexington Avenue (Cross street 47th Street). As KTC did in July, we will be planning parties, Valentine’s Day specials, “After-Work Wine and Jewelry Wednesdays”, raffles, and of course new designs. (Katie is already busy in the studio….)

I will be right here in the middle of it- helping Katie, Zoubir and the rest of the KTC team by boosting KTC in the social media and making the website even easier to use. Now that I have introduced myself to you, I look forward to getting to know you in the shop!

And always feel free to email me at I’d love to see pictures of what KTC you picked up over the holidays.
